During the Denver City Council Meeting regarding the Denver Flavor Ban on flavored nicotine products such as e-liquids, disposable vapes, flavored cigarillos and more, representatives from both sides of the aisle took the floor. Proponents of the measure, such as Debbie Ortega & Amanda Sawyer, pointed to the so called “Youth Vaping Epidemic” and how banning flavored nicotine products in Denver would curb the use of nicotine products by minors. Opponents, such as Denver smoke shop owners, called to cessation, and flavors helping adults stop smoking cigarettes. Smoke shop owners also called on their profit margins- as the majority of Denver smoke shops carry e-liquids, disposable vapes, flavored cigarillos and more. This measure could cut some Denver smoke shops sales in half, or more. This can be detrimental to businesses around the Denver Metro Area.
